Sometimes it’s not the hours that you put into a project but the business model you’re using. Let me explain. If you choose your business model wisely, you can make twice the money with less effort in the long run. But how is that you ask yourself? Is it because the market is larger? or is it something else? Further down this post I’m going to show you how you can put in the same effort into two different business models and make twice as much money from one of them.
Do you know what? there are many thousands of different business models out there, but essentially there are two main models that come down to either selling a product or selling an ongoing service. To better explain this, let’s give you an example of each.
Ok, announcing product one: You’ve got a business model where you sell ebooks. Now, once you sell an ebook to a prospect, that’s it. you can’t sell her that ebook again, right? In essence, once she has it, she has it. Hmm, a dilemma. Now, the only way you’re going to earn more money from this person is if you have other ebooks to sell her and preferably in the same niche. If not, to try and get more income you’ll have to get more prospects. Does that make sense? Yeah I know, a simplified model, but I think it illustrates my point.
Let’s take a quick look at the ongoing service model. For example let’s have a look at Aweber. Aweber is a company that provides an auto-responder service. Now I personally don’t use aweber, I use Ebizac, but hey, the same thing applies. Every single month that I use their service, I have to pay an ongoing monthly fee. So let’s break this down a bit. These guys make one sale to me and they collect an income from me for months, maybe even years. I suppose you can use this example with things like hosting and membership sites etc.
Do you see how this second model is actually less work? You see, once you’ve sold your service the first time round to one person, if they find after using it that they can’t live without it, they’re very likely to continue using it for a very long time. So in effect you’re actually doing the same amount of work but for every sale you make, you’re making what is called a residual income.
If you try to adopt the second model in your next project you’ll find you won’t be like that pic above working all the hours in a day. You’ll also have more time to develop more ideas and spend more time doing the things you love.
Hope that helps? To your success,
DesDrec.
P.s. I’m not saying that this path is easy. Just a little something to think about before you embark on that next BIG PROJECT
